Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Hi all, I have an envy 6010e, which connected to our wifi and was visible in the HP app for over a year now. Everything worked fine until now. Nothing changed in the wifi settings so dont know why. What I did do is restart router, pushed the reset button of the wifi on the printer, followed all the steps in the app on my phone but also on my laptop but it keeps ending the settup before I can finish. It finds my wifi network, and seems to connect but in the final step I receive below messages.

Hi @Abelle120

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP ENVY 6010e finds the Wi-Fi network but fails at the final setup step with an “unexpected error” message, the issue likely stems from a blocked configuration handshake or outdated app cache.

Let’s walk through a clean, sensory-rich recovery to restore full wireless connection.

1. Perform a Full Network Reset on the Printer

This clears any lingering Wi-Fi profiles or setup fragments.

  • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button and Cancel button together for 5 seconds until the wireless light blinks.
  • Wait 60 seconds for the printer to fully reset its network settings.

2. Reboot Your Router and Clear DHCP Cache

Even if nothing changed, routers can hold onto stale IP assignments.

  • Power off your router for 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
  • If your router has a DHCP lease table, log into its admin page and clear it (optional but helpful).

3. Use the HP App’s Guided Setup (Fresh Install)

Sometimes the app retains old pairing data that interferes with setup.

Uninstall the HP App from your phone and laptop.

Reinstall the latest version from:
HP App Download

Open the app and select Set Up a New Printer.

Follow the steps until it asks to connect to Wi-Fi.

Choose your network and enter the password manually.

Wait for the app to confirm connection and proceed to registration.

4. Use Embedded Web Server (EWS) for Direct Setup

If the app fails again, try setting up Wi-Fi directly through the printer’s IP.

  • Connect your laptop to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Open a browser and enter http://192.168.x.x (replace with your printer’s IP).
  • Navigate to Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Manually enter your Wi-Fi credentials and apply changes.

5. Run HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

This tool can detect setup failures and repair them automatically.

  • Open the HP App on your Windows device.
  • Click the wrench icon (bottom left) and select Diagnose & Fix.
  • Follow the prompts to scan for connection issues.

Start here: Diagnose & Fix – HP Printer Setup

If the error persists after these steps, let me know whether the printer shows a solid or blinking wireless light, and whether it prints the network configuration page correctly. That will help pinpoint whether it’s a handshake issue or a deeper firmware block.
