I cannot connect my HP DeskJet2722e to the internet. When I print out the printer status reports and information pages it tells me my 8 digit pin, and says Admin Password: Set. My 8 digit pin is then incorrect when I type it as the wifi password, and I do not know what my Admin Password is. When I do the turning off my laptop, holding down the cancel button, holding down the power button thing and it prints a new printer status report it gives me the same pin that does not work. The HP app just tells me it cannot help until my phone is connected to the printer wifi. SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Hi @Please_Help_666,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2722e is not connecting to Wi-Fi because the printed 8-digit PIN isn’t working, and the Admin password is unknown. Let’s go step by step to get your printer back online.

a. Reset the Printer Network Settings
Since the PIN and Admin password aren’t working, the best way is to reset the printer’s network settings:

Turn on the printer.

Press and hold the Wireless button (Wi-Fi icon) and the Cancel button at the same time for about 5–10 seconds, until the printer restarts.

This should clear any saved network info, including the PIN and Wi-Fi passwords.

b. Reconnect Using HP Smart App

Make sure your phone or laptop is on the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to join.

Open HP Smart app → Add Printer → Wireless setup.

Follow the prompts; the printer should appear as a temporary Wi-Fi hotspot. Connect to it when requested.

Enter your university Wi-Fi credentials if it asks, or connect to your home network.

c. Check University Network Restrictions

Some university accommodations restrict device connections to registered devices only.

If the printer fails to connect, it may be blocked.

You may need to register the printer’s MAC address with the university IT network.

Find the MAC address on the printer info page (printed using the Cancel + Power button method).

Submit it to the university IT portal or helpdesk.

d. Alternative: USB or Mobile Hotspot

If the university Wi-Fi is too restrictive, you can temporarily connect the printer via USB cable or create a mobile hotspot from your phone to finish setup.

I hope this helps.
