Hi @Yeicira

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is saying that the router is not detected, there might be a couple of things causing this issue. Let’s go through some steps to troubleshoot and help get your printer connected to your wireless network.

1. Check Your Router's Wireless Settings

  • 2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz Bands: Some printers may not be able to connect to the 5 GHz band of your router. Many printers only support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Check your router’s settings and ensure it’s broadcasting on the 2.4 GHz band as well. If your router only uses 5 GHz, you may need to adjust the settings or temporarily disable 5 GHz to set up the printer on 2.4 GHz.
  • SSID Visibility: Ensure your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) is visible and not hidden. Some routers allow you to hide the SSID for security reasons, but your printer may not be able to find it in that case.

2. Make Sure You’re Using the Correct Wi-Fi Network

  • Double-check that you’re selecting the correct Wi-Fi network during the printer setup. Sometimes, your device or printer might show multiple networks if your router has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks with similar names (e.g., "HomeWiFi" and "HomeWiFi_5G").
  • If you have different network names for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, ensure you’re connecting your printer to the 2.4 GHz network.

3. Use the Wireless Setup Wizard (via Printer’s Control Panel)

If you're using the HP Smart Tank 5000 or another HP printer, you can connect the printer to Wi-Fi using its Wireless Setup Wizard directly on the printer:

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Go to the printer’s control panel and look for a Wireless icon or Settings icon (usually represented by a gear).
  3. Select Wireless Setup Wizard or Network Setup.
  4. The printer will search for nearby Wi-Fi networks. Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list.
  5. Enter your Wi-Fi password (make sure it’s correct, including case sensitivity).
  6. Confirm the connection and allow the printer to complete the setup.

4. Using the HP Smart App for Setup

If you prefer using your phone or computer, the HP Smart app might make things easier. Follow these steps:

  1. Download the HP Smart app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). You can also get it on your computer from HP’s website.
  2. Open the HP Smart app and sign in (or create an account if you don’t have one).
  3. Select Add Printer and follow the prompts to connect the printer.
  4. The app will guide you through the process of connecting the printer to your wireless network. Ensure your phone or computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
