I have a DeskJet 2652 and I cannot get it to connect to my wireless network. I followed the directions and it’s still not connecting.

Hi @SPUMO1978,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how stressful it feels when your DeskJet 2652 refuses to join your Wi‑Fi, especially after you’ve already followed all the steps. It’s like the printer is so close to connecting, breathing quietly with its little blue light blinking… but not fully taking that last step. Let's fix this step by step.

Important Note About Your Printer

The HP DeskJet 2652 ONLY supports 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi, not 5 GHz.
If your router uses 5 GHz only, or combines both under one name, the printer simply won’t connect.

STEP 1: Restore Wi‑Fi Settings on the Printer

This puts the printer into Wireless Setup Mode, which only lasts 2 hours.

Do this:

  1. Turn the printer ON
  2. Press and hold the Wireless Button + Cancel Button together for 3 seconds
→ The Wireless light should start blinking, meaning it’s ready for setup.

STEP 2: Connect Using HP APP (Most Reliable Method)

  1. Install or open the HP APP on your phone or computer
HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site
  2. Tap Set Up a New Printer
  3. HP app should detect the HP DeskJet 2600 series
  4. Select your Wi‑Fi network
  5. Enter Wi‑Fi password
  6. Complete setup

If the HP App says “Printer Not Ready for Setup”, repeat Step 1 to re-enable setup mode.

STEP 3: Confirm Wi‑Fi Requirements

Your network must be:

✔️ 2.4 GHz
✔️ WPA2 or WPA3 security
✔️ Password WITHOUT special characters like! # % * (rare but printer rejects them)
✔️ Printer and phone/computer on the same Wi-Fi network

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
