I recently purchased the new HP DeskJet 2910. I have not received the cable to connect the printer without WiFi. I’d prefer the cable usage.Regards,
True -- In most regions, the USB printer to computer cable is a consumer purchase -- the cable is not included in the box at purchase.

If you mean to say that you do not have a local network to which you can (or are willing to) connect the printer, consider: the printer supports Wi-Fi Direct (limited wireless between printer / computer (or tablet, phone).
Wi-Fi Direct uses the wireless radio in your printer to connect directly to the Wireless on your device (computer, tablet, phone). While Wi-Fi Direct is useless for connecting the printer to the Internet (and, for example, Instant Ink or Cloud services), when it can be used, the limited connection does eliminate the chance that the issue is related to a weak, poorly located (perhaps too far away or even much too close), outdated, or incompletely configured, router.

The printer is supported in a USB-only environment when you install the full driver printer software.
The full driver is available for supported versions of Windows.

↓ Hints ↓
The Offline Use Only, Print and Scan Driver, or similarly named installation web packs can be used in either a network‑connected or USB‑connected environment.
The name of the installation file depends on the printer model and the type of packaging.
This method includes the printer software in the installation package; hence the much larger file size.
You need not answer questions about which driver or type of printer software to select and install.
Using USB?
Be sure to unplug the USB cable between the printer and the computer before loading the software.
Re-connect the USB cable when instructed to do so, generally near the end of the successful installation of the printer software.

Next,
Neither the older HP Smart application nor its replacement app, HP, are suitable for a USB-only setup.
Should it work at all, many of the features of the app will be missing or curtailed.

HP -- the company -- has named the new application for your HP computer and HP Printer → HP
<< Important -- 2026 >>
- HP has replaced the HP Smart application with the HP App on all supported platforms.
- The HP App is available at the App Store for your supported device (computer, tablet, phone).
- HP appears to be an indirect replacement for the HP Support Assistant application.
- HP is a sort of app-wrapper and includes both your HP computer and any HP Printers that have been detected or added to the HP App.
- HP Smart -- the application for used for scan, print, shortcuts, and mobile fax, is now parked inside of the HP App Printer section.
