HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-In-One printer which has been working great with Wi-Fi until recently.  I can no longer print using Wi-Fi.  There is no issue with the internet in my home.  I already had it checked.  When I went to my printer display console, I went into the Network Setup and there was a message that an "ethernet cord was not plugged in".  Also, there was no longer an option for “Wireless Settings” on my printer display console as there once was.  So, there is no way to re-establish the wireless settings.  I also notice that the blue light next to the printer console is not lit.  I am usually able to fix technical issues but I've been working this one for a while and I can't figure it out.  I did several things including plugging in to ethernet and running HP diagnostics and printer software, without any success.  I even tried the “Restore Network Settings” option, with no success.  It’s a bit frustrating because I can’t find a way to fix it and I need my printer for work. I’m sure other people have had the same issue.  Is there some kind of a fix for this or do I need to go buy a new printer?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

@Tombolaya,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

I understand how frustrating it can be when a printer suddenly stops connecting to Wi-Fi, especially when you rely on it for work. I’m glad you reached out for help, and I’d be happy to guide you through some troubleshooting steps to hopefully resolve the issue.

Based on the symptoms you described, it sounds like your printer may have unintentionally switched to Ethernet mode, which is why the wireless settings option is no longer available. The issue may also be related to a reset of the printer's network settings. Here are some steps to try:

1. Check Wireless Radio Settings:

  • Make sure the Wireless radio on your printer is enabled. To check this:
    • Go to the Control Panel on your printer and select Setup.
    • Navigate to Network Setup and ensure that the Wireless option is set to On.

2. Restore Wireless Settings:

  • Even though you’ve tried “Restore Network Settings,” you can also try manually setting up the Wi-Fi connection from the printer:
    • On the printer display, select Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.

3. Power Cycle Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in, turn it on, and then check again for wireless options. Sometimes this can help reset the network interface.

4. Reset Network Settings (Advanced):

If the above steps don’t work, try the network reset again, but this time, do the following:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons at the same time for about 5 seconds.
  • Wait for the blue wireless light to start blinking, which indicates that the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode.
  • Try reconnecting to your network using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

5. Check Router/Network:

  • Double-check your router settings to ensure it’s not blocking the printer from connecting.
  • You can also try temporarily connecting the printer via Ethernet to see if it recognizes your Wi-Fi network through a wired connection first.

6. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date by visiting the HP Support Website and downloading the latest firmware version.

If none of these steps work, there might be an issue with the printer’s wireless hardware. In that case, contacting HP support directly could provide you with a more specific fix or discuss repair/replacement options.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you need further assistance or run into any issues during the troubleshooting process.

Kind Regards,

Dear NONSEQUITUR777 - Thanks so much for reaching out....however,  prior to seeing your response, I was able to  temporarily connect the printer via Ethernet to see that it recognized my Wi-Fi network and thus provided me the Wireless Network Setup option to re-connect with my home wireless mesh network.

FYI - Steps 1=5 were N/A for me as despite every effort - neither the Wi-Fi Icon or Wireless Network Setup options ever appeared.
