error states that the wireless capabilities have been disabled and for me to contact my administrator or the person who setup my printer. I am the person tho. I have tried resetting the network defaults and resetting to factory default conditions and neither have done anything to solve this issue.

Hi @DCercena,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP printer is showing “Wireless Network Menu Disabled,” even after resetting network defaults and performing a factory reset. Let’s go through some steps to get your wireless capabilities working again.

Check Wireless Button/Switch
○ Make sure the wireless button on the printer is turned on.
○ Some models have a physical switch, ensure it’s set to On.

Verify Wireless Capability is Enabled
○ On the printer control panel, navigate to:
Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings
○ Ensure wireless is enabled. If it’s greyed out, continue to the next steps.

Reset the Printer Network Completely
○ Power off the printer.
○ Disconnect all cables (USB, Ethernet, power) for 1–2 minutes.
○ Reconnect the power cable, turn on the printer, and attempt a network setup again.

Update Printer Firmware
○ Download and install the latest firmware from HP Support for your printer model.
○ Outdated firmware can sometimes disable wireless functions.

Check for Administrator Restrictions
○ If the printer was previously configured in a corporate or managed environment, wireless settings may be locked.
○ If possible, restore the printer using HP Smart App > Printer Settings > Restore Network Defaults to remove any admin restrictions.

Use HP Smart for Wireless Setup
○ Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
○ Go through Set up a new printer > Wireless Setup.
○ The app can sometimes override disabled menus that the control panel cannot access.

I hope this helps.

Tried every single way you said.  No luck-I thought there was a specific fix for this known issue for the OfficeJet Pro 8610 ?  Everyone else received a step-by-step instructions in a private message........

Hi @DCercena,

Thank you for your patience and for sharing all the details. I completely understand how frustrating this is, and I’m here to help you get the wireless capabilities of your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 restored.

Since the standard resets and app-based setups haven’t worked, let’s try the following advanced steps:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Power off the printer completely.

Disconnect the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.

Wait at least 5 minutes.

Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

This ensures any temporary network locks are cleared.

2. Restore Factory Defaults Using Key Combination

Some OfficeJet Pro 8600/8610 series printers have a hidden factory restore sequence:

With the printer on, press and hold the Power button.

While holding it, press and release the Cancel button, then release the Power button.

The printer should display “Restoring Factory Defaults” or restart automatically.

his sometimes resets administrative locks that disable wireless menus.

3. Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to Reset Network Settings

Connect the printer temporarily via USB to your computer.

Open a browser and type in the printer’s IP address (you can get this from the printer’s control panel under Network Settings).

Access the Embedded Web Server.

Navigate to Network > Restore Defaults.

Apply and restart the printer.

4. Update Firmware via USB

Sometimes wireless features remain disabled if the firmware is outdated or corrupted.

Download the latest firmware for OfficeJet Pro 8610 from HP Support.

Use the USB method to update firmware (skip over-the-air or app updates since wireless is disabled).

Once updated, check if the wireless menu reappears.

I hope this helps.
