Hello All,
I am confounded. I am trying to link my printer to the WiFi network in my office, but it recognizes the WiFi Network as open and not needing an encryption key. However, this is not the case. The Network does need a password (encryption key), and there is no opportunity for me to input one, since it seems to think that a password (encryption key) is not required. So far I have tried:
- Turning everything On and Off (computer, network, router, printer, etc.) = no change
- WPS set-up will not work. I have followed the directions several times, to no avail.
Please Help.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

@SSD_Christopher, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I see that you are trying to connect the printer to the wireless network.
- This printer supports WPA encryption, check if the router is on the same encryption method. If using WEP or WPA-PSK+FT change it to WPA-PSK
- Restart the router, the printer, and the PC
- Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
- If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings
Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.
Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
