Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

My printer has suddenly lost any functionality related to printing wirelessly. There are no menu options related to wireless printing (except wireless direct, which is enabled) and the printer is requesting an ethernet cable.

I have tried all the steps that have been recommended by the Virtual Agent. Since this is a wireless issue, the HP Print and Scan Doctor and HP Smart cannot see the printer so they are worthless.

The HP Network Configuration page states that the wireless function has been disabled. I'm not sure how or why this has happened. I have seen 2 posts with no solution. If anybody has found a solution, please post it here. Thank you!!

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting printer connectivity issues.

To isolate the issue, please perform a ping test and share the results-

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon Machine generated alternative text:

 on the printer

  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box

  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings

  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost.

Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

Good evening SandyTechy20 and thank you for your response.

I am still having issues, my printer does not have a wireless icon, although I am pretty sure there was one before. The engraved wireless icon on the actual printer does not have a light like it normally does (like the power icon).

I was able to print the HP network configuration page and from there I tried various IP addresses with no luck. The addresses included:

802.3 wired  - hardware address MAC

Wi-Fi direct - hardware address

IPv4 - IP address

IPv6 address

This seems to be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
