Hi @Jerse66,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy Photo 7800 printer is not connecting to your iPad, here are troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue.
Check Network Status
Confirm Printer is Connected to Wi-Fi
- On the printer control panel, go to Network Settings or Wi-Fi Setup.
- Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPad.
Print Network Configuration Report
- Print the Network Configuration Report from the printer menu to confirm network details such as SSID and IP address.
Check Wi-Fi Signal
- Ensure the printer is within range of your router. Weak signals can disrupt connectivity.
Restart Devices and Router
- Turn off your printer, iPad, and Wi-Fi router.
- Unplug the router for 30 seconds, then reconnect it.
- Power on the printer and iPad after the router has restarted.
Update Firmware and Software
Printer Firmware:
- On the printer, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer (or similar).
iPad Software:
- Ensure your iPad is running the latest version of iOS:
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
HP Smart App:
- Download or update the HP Smart app on your iPad from the App Store.
Reconnect the Printer
- Open the HP Smart app on your iPad.
- Tap the "+" (Add Printer) button to search for available printers.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer.

Check for AirPrint Availability
Ensure the printer supports AirPrint and it is enabled.
- Check the printer's documentation or settings.
On your iPad:
- Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Ensure you see the printer listed under AirPrint devices.
Reset Printer Network Settings
If none of the above steps work:
Reset the printer's network settings:
- On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi via the control panel.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
