HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer

Set up new internet provider today, T-Mobile with 5G Gateway and Mesh Wifi Extender.  Have an older printer, HP Officejet 4620.  Am not able to connect it to the wireless network now.  I split the 2.5 and 5.0 bands.  Still no luck. I have used HP Smart to try and set up.  I hid the printer then tried adding a new printer.  It detects the printer but cannot connect.  There is no WPS button on the new router.  There is no set up Wizard on this printer.  I returned printer to default setting and enabled the set up mode.  Ran through HP Smart again.  Still unable to connect.  The only thing I have not tried is connecting the printer to the computer via usb cable, to get wireless settings.  The printer only has ethernet ports.  Any suggestions????

Hi  @tramsey6

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out. I understand you are trying to reconnect your HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer to your new T-Mobile 5G Gateway and Mesh Wi-Fi network. I appreciate the detailed information you've already shared and the efforts you've made so far.dont worry let me help you with this .

To help us better understand the setup, could you kindly share:

  • Whether the printer is able to detect and display your 2.4 GHz wireless network name (SSID).
  • Any error message or error code shown on the printer display or within HP Smart.
  • Are you attempting the setup from a Windows PC, Mac, Android, or iPhone/iPad device?

In the meantime, kindly try the belo\w steps and confirm  :

  1. Verify that the printer is connecting to the 2.4 GHz network, as the HP Officejet 4620 supports 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity.
  2. Temporarily disable any VPN, mobile hotspot, or network security applications on the device used for setup.
  3. Restart the printer, T-Mobile Gateway, and the device running HP App.
  4. From the printer's control panel, print a Wireless Network Test Report (Link for steps - click here ) and check whether the printer can detect nearby wireless networks.
  5. If available, try connecting the printer using an Ethernet cable directly to the router/gateway and then run the Wireless Setup process again.
  6. If the printer is not joining the network through HP App, kindly try setting up the wireless connection through the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) after obtaining its IP address via Ethernet.
  7. If you have access to a computer, connecting the printer temporarily through a network connection and completing the wireless configuration can also help isolate whether this is a network compatibility issue.

You can also refer to the link for  Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on the printer  - click here

I hope this helps.
