Microsoft Windows 11

I have a problem several have posted regarding the new router/modem from Xfinity cable.   I have  the HP office pro 8600 and the XB8 router from Xfinity (a comcast company) for wifi.   I tried to use the setup wizard to have it connect to the new router.  Same printer I have used in the past with their other routers.  The setup wizard will see SSID but will not accept the pwd.   Apparently there is an issue with WPA3 not being compatible with the setup wizard.

I logged into the xfinity router admin at 10.0.0.1 and the feature to change off WP3A is greyed out and can't be changed.  There is no way to change it to WPA2. I don't see any way to change this on the xfinity mobile app.  The setup wizard doesn't work with WP3A.  Can HP team verify this?

Any ideas?  Time for a patch HP? ugh I would hate to toss away a perfectly good printer/scanner/fax for this security item....especially since I have a nice stock of ink!

Not through the admin console.  Xfinity app has the ability to change this for xb8. I just did it.

Hi @alcw62,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP office Pro 8600 printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

WPA3 might not be supported on the printer as it is an old model unit. However, the workaround would be to use a USB connection or contact your Internet Service Provider and get the security type changed to WPA2.

You may refer to this document: HP printer setup (USB cable)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I don't want a connected printer so USB won't work.  I've called xfinity and the XB8 can't support WPA2...there's no way to change that security setting....unless I go back to the XB6... ...maybe there's a network guru who has played around in their router with a solution, but I've tried and talked to xfinity tier 2 support...it's just not enabled :  (

looks like I get to donate a perfectly great printer to good will

Had the same problem.  The problem is the xb8 is defaulting the 2.4Ghz band to wpa3.  You need to chage the bad back the wpa2.   To do that just go the the xifinty app. Click on connections. Click on the pencil to edit them.  Chage the security mode to wpa2.  Save and wait about 15 min... you may need to reboot your roughter after the change.  You should be good to go now.

the support at Xfinity (a comcast company) was just bizarre...at first they refused to support me at all...then I escalated and had my ticket closed without my knowledge..opened another ticket and it was closed.... then escalated yet again and they offered to send me a Xbr6 router that supports WPA2...btw, their online support wanted me to do port forwarding?!@$!?...not a single support agent gave the simple answers provided here on how to change the setting...I am up and running, thanks !

Keep it simple keep it on wpa3 transition not personal and the channel 11 and at 40 not not 20.

Also your cb8 modem needs to be hard reset for you to be able to manage the settings via web browser on PC.
