Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a laserjet Pro MP M426fdn, which I have hooked up to via ethernet cable. I would like to use it wireless by adding some kind of adapter to the USB port. Would that work?

If the router you connected to the printer is wireless then wireless devices connected to the same router can print to that printer.

The printer is not wireless. I want to move the printer to the spare room and add some device where I could use it wireless somehow

If you connect a non-wireless printer wired to a wireless router all wireless devices can use the printer.
