Hi @GaryJSP

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the issue so clearly—when your HP OfficeJet Pro 8138e says a job is printed but nothing comes out, and it’s happening over the network, it usually points to a communication breakdown between Windows and the printer, even though the job appears to be sent successfully.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to restore reliable network printing.

Step-by-Step Fix for Network Print Jobs That Don’t Print

1. Run HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • Open the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 PC.
  • Click your printer → go to Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a full scan—it will automatically fix common connection and queue issues.

2. Clear the Print Queue

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP 8138e → click Open Print Queue.
  • Cancel all pending jobs.
  • Restart both your printer and PC.

3. Assign a Static IP to the Printer

Dynamic IPs can cause silent failures:

  • Open the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) by typing its IP address into a browser.
  • Go to Network > IPv4 Configuration.
  • Set a Manual IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.250) and save.
  • Re-add the printer using this IP in Windows:
    • Go to Printers & Scanners > Add Device > Add manually > Add a printer using TCP/IP address.

4. Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can block job execution:

5. Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Remove the printer from Printers & Scanners.
  • Download the Full Software Solution from the same HP support page.
  • Reinstall using USB first (if possible), then switch back to network mode.

Let me know how your printer responds after these steps—I’ll guide you further if needed.
