HP LaserJet M110w Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

The printer has stopped working. The orange exclamation point light is blinking. The printer is connected to the internet. I get an error message saying it cannot print and that the printer "needs attention." But neither the HP Smart app nor the HP diagnostic/fix tool can tell me what sort of attention it needs. The virtual assistant was no help

Hi @Lola1957,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When the orange exclamation point light is blinking on your HP LaserJet M110w printer, it typically indicates that there is an issue that requires your attention. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

  1. Check for Paper Jams: Make sure there are no paper jams in the printer. Open the printer's input and output trays and check for any jammed paper. If you find any, gently remove it.

  2. Inspect Toner Cartridge: Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed. If it's not seated correctly, remove it and reinsert it carefully.

  3. Check for Low Toner: If the toner level is low, you may need to replace the toner cartridge. The low toner level can trigger warning lights. Replace the toner cartridge if necessary.

  4. Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve the issue. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and power it on.

  5. Update Firmware: It's a good practice to ensure your printer has the latest firmware. You can check HP's official website for firmware updates and follow the instructions to update your printer's firmware.

  6. Check Network Connection: Since you mentioned the printer is connected to the internet, ensure that the Wi-Fi connection is stable. Reboot your router and try reconnecting the printer to the network.

  7. Reinstall Printer Software: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you might consider uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software on your computer. This can often address software-related problems.

  8. Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. This will restore the printer to its default settings. Be aware that this will erase any custom configurations, so it should be used only when necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
