I got a new router. I tried resetting the wifi on my printer so it was on the same network as my other devices. That didn't work. I tried deleting my printer, which i did but now the default passcode on the sticker located inside the door keeps failing. I don't know what to do

Hi @Cris321123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When setting up your HP printer to connect to a new router, it is essential to ensure the printer is on the same network as your other devices. Here's a guide to help you resolve common issues related to printer and Wi-Fi connectivity:

Reset the Printer Network Settings:

  • Start by restoring the network settings on your printer to the default. This can usually be done through the printer's control panel.

  • Navigate to the "Setup" or "Network" menu on the printer, and look for an option like “Restore Network Settings” or “Network Reset.”

Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. Use your printer’s control panel to select the Wi-Fi network.

  • Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted. Ensure you are entering the correct credentials.

Check the Default Passcode:

  • For certain HP printers, a default passcode (often found on a sticker inside the printer) may be required during setup.

  • If the default passcode fails, double-check the entered code against the sticker, ensuring there are no typos or misread characters.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall any existing printer drivers from your computer.

  • Visit the HP Official HP® Support and download the latest drivers and setup utility for your printer model.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall and set up your printer on the new Wi-Fi network.

Use HP App:

Printer and Router Compatibility:

  • Ensure your router is compatible with your printer and supports the frequency (2.4 GHz and/or 5 GHz) your printer uses.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
