Hi @LF41,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Smart Tank 6000 series printer is not connecting to WiFi after installing a new modem, even after trying various suggestions, here’s a focused troubleshooting guide to resolve the issue:

1. Reset the Printer's Network Settings

  • Press and hold the Wireless button (or WiFi Direct) and the Cancel button for 3–5 seconds.
  • The wireless light will blink, indicating the network settings have been reset.

2. Reconnect Using HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Open the HP Smart app on your device.
  • Go to Printer Setup and follow the steps to reconnect the printer to your new WiFi network.
  • Ensure:
    • The printer is within range of the new modem.
    • You're connecting to a 2.4 GHz network (if applicable, as HP printers often do not support 5 GHz).

3. Update Router Settings  HP printers - Wi-Fi connection is lost after router or network settings change

  • Log in to your router settings via its IP address in a browser.
  • Ensure the following:
    • SSID (WiFi name) and password are correctly set.
    • The security type is WPA or WPA2, not WEP.
    • Disable any MAC address filtering or restrictions.

4. Manually Add the Printer

  • On the printer, hold the WiFi button until the light starts blinking.
  • Press the WPS button on your modem/router within 2 minutes to establish a connection.
  • If successful, the wireless light will turn solid.

5. Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Remove the printer from your devices:
    • Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select the printer, and click Remove device.
    • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select the printer, and click -.
  • Download and install the latest drivers for your printer from the HP Support website.

6. Use USB or Ethernet for Setup

  • Temporarily connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.
  • Use the HP Smart app or installation software to configure WiFi.
  • Disconnect the USB cable after successful setup.

7. Restart Devices

  • Restart the modem/router, printer, and computer/device to refresh connections.

8. Factory Reset the Printer

  • If all else fails, perform a factory reset on your printer:
    • Hold the Power button and the WiFi button for 20 seconds (or as specified in the manual).
    • Reconfigure WiFi settings from scratch using the HP Smart app.
