Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you are experiencing issues printing from your computer to the HP DeskJet 2800e printer, follow these troubleshooting steps:

Check Printer Connection

  1. Ensure the printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.

  2. Check network status: Use the HP Smart app or printer control panel to confirm the printer is connected to the network. Ensure the wireless light is solid blue.

Check Printer Status

  1. Open the HP Smart app or HP Printer software on your computer.

  2. Select your printer, and verify that the status is "Ready" or "Online."

Remove and Reinstall Printer

  1. Remove Printer: In Windows, search for and open "Printers & scanners." Select your printer, and click "Remove device."

  2. Add Printer: Click "Add a printer or scanner," select your printer from the list, or add it manually using its IP address.

Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check for Firmware Updates: Update the printer firmware via HP Smart app or by visiting HP Software and Driver Downloads.

  2. Do not turn off the printer during a firmware update, as it could cause damage.

Check Print Settings

  1. Printing Preferences: Ensure color printing is selected and correct paper type and quality settings are chosen.

Restart Devices

  1. Turn off the printer and computer. Restart your router.

  2. Reconnect everything, ensure they are on the same network.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Hey I have figured out the printer will print wireless from my phone but only prints blanks from my computer.  I don't really see any setting to click to fix this.  Do you have any solutions

Thank you for the update, and I’m truly sorry your HP DeskJet 2800e prints blank pages from your computer—it’s especially frustrating when it works perfectly from your phone.

Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to help resolve this and get your computer printing properly:

Check Ink Levels and Nozzle Function

  • Even if it prints from your phone, confirm ink levels via the HP Smart app.
  • Run a Print Quality Diagnostic Page from the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app to verify nozzle health.

Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Uninstall the current driver:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and choose Remove device.
  • Download and install the full-feature driver from HP’s official page:
    HP DeskJet 2800e Series Drivers

Print from a Different Program

  • Try printing from Notepad or WordPad instead of your usual app.
  • If it prints correctly, the issue may be with the specific application or document formatting.

Disable Print in Grayscale or Draft Mode

  • Go to Control Panel > Printers > Right-click your printer > Printing Preferences.
  • Ensure Print in Grayscale is unchecked.
  • Set Quality to Normal or Best.

Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool (Windows)

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.

Check for Corrupt Print Spooler

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Locate Print Spooler, right-click, and choose Restart.
  • If issues persist, clear the spooler queue:
    • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files.

Let’s get your printer back to producing crisp, complete pages from every device.
