I changed wifi networks. I reset my printer (HP Envy 6075), but my scanner will not connect  ... HELP!  scanner has lost connectivity to my computer.  However, I can still print.  Printing is fine, so why does it recognize printer and not scanner if it is the same device??When I use the HP scan doctor, it tells me it can't find my scanner.   I've done everything .... uninstall and reinstall.  any suggestions?

Hi @songbird88,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer's Wi-Fi settings!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP Envy 6075 is facing a connectivity issue related to the scanner while still being able to print without a problem. Since both the printer and scanner are part of the same device, it's likely a software or network-related issue that's specifically affecting the scanner. Here's what you can do to try and resolve the issue:

Verify the Printer's Connection to the New Wi-Fi Network:

  • Make sure your printer is still connected to the new Wi-Fi network.
    • Go to the Printer's control panel and check the Wi-Fi status to ensure it’s connected to the correct network.
    • If needed, reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi by going to the Wi-Fi settings and selecting your new network.

Restart the Printer and Computer:

  • Restart both your printer and computer to ensure a fresh connection and to rule out temporary glitches.

Ensure Proper Network Configuration:

  • Verify that your printer and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network. If your router is set up with multiple bands (e.g., 2.4GHz and 5GHz), make sure both devices are on the same band.
  • Try restarting the router if the devices are on the same network but still having issues connecting.

Check for IP Conflicts:

  • Make sure there are no IP address conflicts in the network. You can print a network configuration page from your printer's settings and check its IP address. If the IP address is conflicting with other devices, consider setting a static IP address for the printer through your router's settings.

Use the HP Smart App:

  • If you're still having trouble, try using the HP Smart app to connect to the scanner.
    • Download and install the HP Smart app on your computer (if you don’t have it installed already).
    • Open the app and try adding your printer and scanning a document using the app instead of relying on traditional methods.

Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:

  • Your computer's firewall or antivirus software might be blocking the scanner connection. Temporarily disable your firewall/antivirus and try scanning again.
  • If this resolves the issue, add an exception for your printer and scanner in the firewall/antivirus settings.

Reinstall HP Printer Software (with Scanner):

  • It’s possible that the scanner driver did not install correctly after the network change. Perform a fresh reinstall of the HP printer software (including scanner drivers):
    • Uninstall the printer software from your computer (go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program).
    • Restart your computer.
    • Download the latest HP software from the HP support page.
    • Install the HP Printer software, ensuring that both the printer and scanner drivers are installed during the setup.

Check HP Scan Settings:

  • Open the HP Scan software on your computer and check if it’s set to recognize the correct device.
  • If it's not detecting the scanner, try manually selecting the printer/scanner from the settings.

Use the HP Scan Doctor (Again):

  • You mentioned running the HP Scan Doctor, but it might help to try it again after performing some of the steps above (like reinstalling the software).
  • When running the HP Scan Doctor, make sure your printer is connected to the same network as your computer, and follow the prompts to resolve connectivity issues.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve connectivity problems. Check for any available updates for your printer's firmware:
    • Go to HP Support > Software & Drivers.
    • Enter your printer model, check for firmware updates, and apply any available updates.

Check the Printer’s Network Setup:

  • In some cases, after changing networks, you might need to manually configure the printer's network settings:
    • Use the printer's control panel to navigate to the Wi-Fi settings and select the new network if it hasn’t automatically connected.
    • If you’re using Wi-Fi Direct, try disabling it, as it may interfere with regular Wi-Fi connections.

By following these steps, hopefully, your HP Envy 6075 scanner should reconnect. Let me know if you encounter any issues or need further assistance with any of the steps!
