Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is displaying a "configuration issue" message and is not configured correctly, it could be due to incorrect network settings, printer settings, or a problem with the installation. Here are steps to resolve this configuration issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.

Unplug the Power Cord:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.

Wait for 60 Seconds:

  • Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds.

Reconnect the Power Cord:

  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and the wall outlet.

Turn On the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn on the printer.

2. Verify Network Settings

Check Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Ensure your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Follow the prompts to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Print a Network Configuration Page:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Reports > Network Configuration Page.
  • Review the printed page to ensure the printer has a valid IP address.

3. Update Firmware

Connect to Wi-Fi:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.

Update the Firmware:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
  • Follow the prompts to check for and install any available firmware updates.

4. Reinstall Printer Software

Uninstall Existing Software:

  • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
  • Find your HP printer software in the list, select it, and click Uninstall.

Download and Install Latest Software:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and software for your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740.
  • Follow the installation instructions, ensuring to select the correct connection type (USB, Ethernet, or Wireless).

5. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

Access the Settings Menu:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.

Confirm the Reset:

  • Follow the prompts to confirm the reset. The printer will restart and return to its factory default settings.

6. Check Ink Cartridges and Printheads

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

Remove Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and remove all the ink cartridges.

Inspect and Clean:

  • Inspect the ink cartridges and printhead for any signs of damage or debris.
  • Clean the contacts on the ink cartridges and printhead using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.

Reinstall the Ink Cartridges:

  • Reinstall the ink cartridges, ensuring they are properly seated.

Turn On the Printer:

  • Plug the printer back in and power it on.

7. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor:
