We switched to a new wifi network. How do I reconnect my hp laserjet pro MFP M428fdw to the wifi again? I tried turning it off and on but there is not a setup option.

Hi @moshier22 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To reconnect your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw printer to a new Wi-Fi network, you'll typically need to access the printer's control panel menu.

Here's a general step-by-step guide:

  • Access the Control Panel: On the printer's control panel, look for a "Setup" or "Settings" button. Press it to access the menu.
  • Network Settings: Within the setup or settings menu, look for an option related to network settings. This might be labeled as "Network Setup," "Wireless Setup," or something similar.
  • Wireless Setup Wizard: Once you find the network settings option, navigate to the wireless setup section. Look for an option like "Wireless Setup Wizard" or "Wi-Fi Setup Wizard." Select it.
  • Select Network: The printer will start searching for available Wi-Fi networks. When it finds your new Wi-Fi network, select it from the list.
  • Enter Wi-Fi Password (if required): If your Wi-Fi network is password-protected, you'll be prompted to enter the password. Use the printer's keypad or touchscreen to input the password.
  • Connection Confirmation: After entering the password (if required), the printer will attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi network. Once the connection is established, you should see a confirmation message on the printer's display.
  • Test the Connection: To ensure that the printer is connected successfully, try printing a network configuration page or performing a test print.
  • If your printer doesn't have a touchscreen or a display, you might need to perform these steps using the HP Smart app or the Embedded Web Server (EWS) interface. Here's how you can do it:
  • HP Smart App: Install the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.
  • Embedded Web Server (EWS): Find the IP address of your printer (you can usually print a network configuration page to get this information). Open a web browser on a device connected to the same network and enter the printer's IP address in the address bar. This will take you to the printer's Embedded Web Server interface, where you can access settings and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.
