Hi @jessicaL95,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you need help connecting your HP printer. Let’s go through a few steps to get it connected properly.

Power on the printer
Make sure the printer is turned on and shows no error lights.
If needed, restart the printer before setup.

Check the connection type
Decide whether you are connecting by Wi-Fi or USB cable.
For wireless setup, keep the printer close to your Wi-Fi router.

Connect the printer to Wi-Fi
On the printer control panel, open Wireless or Network Settings.
Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the correct Wi-Fi password.

Put the printer in setup mode (if not detected)
If the printer was previously connected, reset the network settings.
This allows the printer to be discovered again during setup.

Install or open HP Smart on your device
Download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store or your device’s app store.
Open the app and choose Add Printer or Set Up a New Printer.

Add the printer in HP Smart
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection.
Make sure your device is on the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.

Test the connection
Print a test page from HP Smart once setup is complete.
Confirm the printer responds and prints correctly.

If using USB temporarily
Connect the USB cable only when prompted during setup.
Remove the USB cable after setup if switching to wireless.

I hope this helps.
