Hi @Bergquist4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Tango will not connect to your password-protected wireless network. Let’s go through the correct setup steps to get it connected.

Before we begin:
Are you setting it up using the HP app on a phone or from a computer?

Meanwhile, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Reset the Tango’s Wireless Settings

  • Turn the printer ON.
  • Press and hold the Wireless button on the back of the printer for 5 seconds.
  • Release when the blue light starts blinking rapidly.
  • Rapid blinking means the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode.
  • If the light is not blinking rapidly, repeat the step.

Step 2: Prepare Your Network

  • Make sure your router has 2.4 GHz enabled (Tango does not connect to 5 GHz-only networks).
  • Disable Guest Network.
  • Make sure WPA2 security is enabled (WPA3-only networks may fail).
  • Move the printer within 10–15 feet of the router during setup.

Step 3: Connect Using the HP App (Recommended Method)

  • On your phone, connect to your regular Wi-Fi network.
  • Turn on Bluetooth.
  • Open the HP app.
  • Tap Add Printer or Set Up New Printer.
  • When prompted, enter your Wi-Fi password carefully.
  • Wait until the blue light becomes solid.

Note: The password is case-sensitive.

Step 4: If Setup Fails

  • Restart your router.
  • Restart your phone.
  • Put the printer back into setup mode (blinking blue light).
  • Try setup again.

Step 5: Alternative Setup (If App Fails Repeatedly)

  • Put the printer in setup mode.
  • On your phone, go to Wi-Fi settings.
  • Connect to the temporary network named “HP-Setup…”.
  • Return to the HP app and complete setup.

I hope this helps.
