Hi @fritzga22,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To address your issue with the HP Deskjet 2600 series printer frequently entering sleep mode and requiring a restart to wake up, you can try the following steps to wake it up without restarting and to prevent it from sleeping.
Waking Up the Printer
- Send a Print Job: Sending a new print job from your computer or mobile device can sometimes wake up the printer.
- Control Panel: Press any button on the printer's control panel. Often, pressing the power button lightly or the cancel button will wake it up.
- HP Smart App: Use the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer to check the printer status and wake it up remotely.
Preventing the Printer from Sleeping
Printer Control Panel Settings:
- Go to the printer's control panel.
- Navigate to the setup menu, which might be represented by a wrench or gear icon.
- Look for the "Power" or "Energy" settings.
- Disable the sleep mode or extend the sleep timer to a longer duration.
HP Printer Software on Your Computer:
- Open the HP printer software on your computer (HP Print and Scan Doctor or HP Smart app).
- Access the "Advanced Settings" or "Device Settings" menu.
- Look for power management options and adjust the sleep settings accordingly.
Web Interface:
- Find the printer’s IP address. You can usually find this by printing a network configuration page from the printer's control panel.
- Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
- Go to the "Settings" or "Configuration" tab.
- Navigate to "Power Management" and adjust the sleep settings or disable them entirely.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
