Hello Addressman,

Thank you for posting your concern,

Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues on HP ENVY 7800

If the touch screen on your HP ENVY 7800 printer is not working, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Restart the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait about 60 seconds and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can reset any temporary power or software issues.
  2. Check for Firmware Updates:

    • Make sure that your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. You can check for updates through the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) or on the HP Support website.
    • Updating firmware can sometimes fix bugs and improve functionality.
  3. Clean the Touch Screen:

    • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to clean the touch screen. Ensure that the printer is powered off while cleaning to avoid registering false touches.
    • Avoid using anything abrasive or any chemicals that could damage the screen.
  4. Verify Connections:

    • Ensure that all connections, including power and USB (if applicable), are securely connected.
    • Check for any visible damage to cables or connectors, which could impact functionality.
  5. Reset the Printer Settings:

    • You can perform a settings reset through the printer menu. Note that this will reset network settings too, so you will need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network afterward.
    • Look for "Restore Network Defaults" in the settings menu to reset the printer’s configuration.
  6. Attempt a Partial Reset (as a last resort):

    • Caution: This process will restore your printer to its factory settings and could result in losing custom settings.
    • Unplug the printer while it's on, then plug it back in while holding the power button and a specific button combination as per HP's guidance, if available (such as tapping one of the navigational buttons).

If the touch screen is still unresponsive after trying these steps, it's possible that the issue may be hardware-related. In that case, contacting HP Support for further assistance or a possible service repair would be advisable.
