HP Envy 6155e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Printer is absolutely unresponsive to Microsoft print commands. I spent 1.75 hours with a tech and the problem is unresolved. Every request requires additional physical action, mostly to unplug and re-plug because it forgets the connections; or I'll print a pdf, then try to print a WordDoc and it won't print but sends it to the printer que. I bought the HP because the Brother printer was hard to operate manually BUT IT WORKED GREAT with the computer. This HP DOESN'T WORK WELL EITHER WAY! If it does work, the connection speed is EXTREMELY SSSLLOOOOWW! I've been working at this for 2 weeks so I'm not sure if Amazon will take it back since the original box is gone. Otherwise it's only good for the trash collectors!!!

Hi @AG2903,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Two weeks of wrestling with a printer that refuses to take orders is beyond frustrating, and after nearly two hours with tech support, you deserve a smooth, hassle-free printing experience. Let’s roll up our sleeves and see if we can snap this printer out of its selective hearing phase.

Check Printer Status in Windows

Since print jobs are stuck in the queue, the printer may not be set as default or may be offline.

  1. Open Windows SettingsDevicesPrinters & scanners.
  2. Select your HP ENVY 6155e, then click Manage.
  3. Make sure the printer is not set to offline:
    • Click "Open Print Queue" and remove all stuck jobs.
    • Click "Printer" in the menu and uncheck "Use Printer Offline" (if enabled).
  4. If it's not the default printer, click "Set as default".

Restart Print Spooler Service

A frozen Print Spooler can prevent communication.

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart.
  3. Try printing again.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP provides a troubleshooting tool that automatically fixes printer issues.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP's official site.
  2. Run the tool and let it detect & fix issues.

Reinstall HP Smart & Printer Drivers

Your drivers may be corrupted or outdated, affecting communication.

  1. Uninstall all HP software:
    • Go to Control PanelPrograms & Features → Uninstall all HP Printer software.
  2. Restart your PC.
  3. Reinstall the printer:
    • Download the latest driver from HP's support page.
    • Install HP Smart and add the printer again.

Try Connecting via USB (For Testing)

Since wireless issues can cause delays, try USB mode to rule out WiFi problems.

  1. Connect the printer to your PC via USB cable.
  2. Try printing a simple document.
    • If it prints fine, the issue is wireless-related, so you may need to reset WiFi settings (Step 6).

Reset Printer WiFi Connection

If WiFi printing is slow or unreliable, resetting wireless settings can help.

  1. On the printer control panel, press & hold the Wireless button (📶) + Cancel (✖️) button for 5 seconds.
  2. The WiFi light will start blinking, indicating it’s ready to connect.
  3. Open HP Smart, click Add a Printer, and reconnect to WiFi.

Disable SNMP on Printer Port (If Slow Response)

If the printer is slow to respond, Windows might be using SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), which sometimes causes delays.

  1. Go to Control PanelDevices and Printers.
  2. Right-click HP ENVY 6155ePrinter Properties.
  3. Go to the Ports tab.
  4. Click Configure Port, then **uncheck

Let’s not toss it to the curb just yet, there’s still hope for a breakthrough! 🚀
Let me know how it goes.
