Hi @itsme555

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are getting an error code -OXB8AB9A38 on your HP office Jet 5258  The error code 0XB8AB9A38 is firmware or hardware communication error.  I would request you to please follow the steps:

1. Power Reset

  • Turn off the printer.

  • Unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds.

  • Plug it back in and restart.

  • This clears temporary memory glitches.

2. Check Cartridges

  • Remove both ink cartridges.

  • Gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint‑free cloth.

  • Reinsert cartridges firmly until they click.

  • Ensure you’re using genuine HP cartridges.

3. Update Firmware

  • Go to HP Support → Drivers & Downloads.

  • Enter “HP OfficeJet 5258” and select your operating system.

  • Download and install the latest firmware update.

  • Restart the printer after installation.

4. Reset Printer Settings

  • On the control panel, navigate to Setup → Service → Restore Defaults.

  • This clears corrupted settings that may trigger error codes.

5. Test Print

  • Try printing a test page.

  • If the error persists, attempt a USB connection instead of Wi‑Fi to rule out communication issues.

Take care and have an amazing day!
