Hi @Tita505,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating this is. Your printer has been working for years, and suddenly it feels like it’s invisible to your Mac. Let’s bring that connection back step by step.

Why This Happens

  • macOS updates can remove or reset printer drivers. An
  • HP printer may lose its AirPrint or Bonjour registration.
  • Firewall or network settings block communication.
  • The HP app or drivers need reinstalling.

Troubleshooting Steps (with empathy and sensory tone)

1. Confirm Printer is Online

  • On the printer screen, check the Wi-Fi icon; it should be solid blue.
  • If blinking, reconnect using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

2. Restart Devices

  • Power cycle the printer, Mac, and router, and wait until Wi-Fi is stable.
  • Feel that little sense of relief when the printer reconnects to your network.

3. Remove and Re-Add Printer on Mac

  • Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer → Remove.
  • Click + → Add printer again.
  • If you see AirPrint, select it for easy setup.

4. Install HP App

5. Update Drivers

  • Go to HP Support:
    👉 Official HP® Support
Enter your printer model and install the latest macOS drivers.

6. Reset Printing System (Last Resort)

  • In Printers & Scanners, right-click in the printer list → Reset Printing System.
  • Re-add your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Whew. Ok, I’m a 72 yr old retired person. I’m not a Luddite, but HP’s complexities are too much for me. The printers work with my phone and iPad, so I realize the problem is in the Mac connection. I have to work up to trying your suggestions, all the vocabulary you use I have to look up every instruction to figure out where to find the action before I can do it, so bear with me, I will contact you when and if I solve the problem. I taught myself to change and install door knobs this week, so who knows I might be able to get this done too.

thanks for being there to offer help.
