How do I get the printer to activate its wireless capability from the printer? Do I have to use a cabled connection? Is it on the control board on the printer? WHAAT??? Sorry, I'm kinda frustrated right now. 😣

Hi @DrIntrepid,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your frustration. Let's see if we can simplify the process for you. Generally, for HP ENVY 6055e All-In-One Printers, activating wireless capability can be done directly from the printer without needing a cabled connection to start the process. Here are the steps you can usually follow to activate the wireless connection on your printer:

Turn on the printer: Ensure that your printer is turned on and in a ready state.

Access the Wireless Setup Wizard: The Wireless Setup Wizard provides an easy way to set up and manage the wireless connection to your printer. On the HP ENVY 6055e, you can access this through the printer's control panel. Since the HP ENVY 6055e has a more streamlined design with fewer buttons, you might need to navigate through the touchscreen interface (if available) or use the HP Smart app to initiate the setup.

Using the HP Smart App: If your printer control panel does not directly support entering the setup, you can use the HP Smart app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices. After downloading and installing the app, you can follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network. This process usually involves selecting your printer from the app, choosing your Wi-Fi network, and entering your Wi-Fi password to connect the printer to your network.

Touchscreen Control Panel (if applicable): If your printer has a touchscreen, you can directly access the setup options from there. Look for the wireless icon or navigate through the menus to find the Wireless Settings or Network Setup options. Within those menus, you should find an option for the Wireless Setup Wizard or a similar setup tool that will guide you through selecting your Wi-Fi network and entering the password.

No Need for a Cabled Connection: For wireless setup, you typically do not need a USB or Ethernet cable connected to the printer. The purpose of wireless setup is to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network so it can communicate with your devices wirelessly.
