Hi @pmilli1

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It’s understandable to be cautious when your browser flags a webpage as unsafe.

In this case, the warning likely appears because the certificate used by the printer’s web interface has expired, making it seem untrustworthy to your browser. However, since you’re accessing your own printer’s settings, it’s generally safe to proceed.

Steps to Reissue the Certificate:

Bypass the Browser Warning

  • When the warning appears, look for an option like “Advanced” or “Proceed Anyway” (wording may vary by browser).
  • Click it to continue to the printer’s web interface.

Generate a New Self-Signed Certificate

  • Once inside the printer’s web interface, go to Security > Certificates.
  • Select Create a New Self-Signed Certificate and follow the prompts.
  • Apply the changes and restart the printer.

Verify the Certificate Update

  • After restarting, access the printer’s web interface again.
  • Check if the certificate expiration date has been updated.

Remove & Re-add the Printer (If Needed)

  • If printing issues persist, remove the printer from your computer’s Printers & Scanners settings.
  • Re-add it using the IP address instead of the default method.

Let me know if you need further clarification! You deserve a smooth printing experience.

If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊

Thank you! It took me awhile to get my keychain to accept the new certificate, but this worked!

That’s great to hear! I know security certificates can be tricky, so I’m glad you got it sorted out.

If anything else pops up while you’re working with the printer, I’m happy to help troubleshoot. Just let me know!

You're awesome, and I'm honored to have been your go-to guide today! 😊

Stay fantastic, and have an amazing day ahead!
