I bought a new HP Color Laser Jet Pro 4202dw Printer and I want to connect it with a utp cable to an already existing network ... in the initial configuration I entered manually to assign it an IP address ... however, the system still does not recognize it ... now Network settings ask for a password that I don't have i know which one is...Does anyone know what this password is and what settings I need to make on the system to make the printer work

Hi @Dragoje,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To connect your HP Color LaserJet Pro 4202dw printer to an existing network using a UTP cable and configure its network settings, you'll typically need to access the printer's web-based configuration page. To do this, follow these general steps.
-
Connect the Printer:
- Plug one end of the UTP (Ethernet) cable into the printer's network port and the other end into an available network port on your network router or switch.
-
Find the Printer's IP Address:
- If you assigned a static IP address during the initial configuration, you should have this information. If not, check your router's device list to find the printer's IP address.
-
Access the Printer's Web Interface:
- Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network.
- Enter the printer's IP address in the browser's address bar and press Enter.
-
Log In to the Printer's Web Interface:
- You may be prompted to enter a username and password. By default, many HP printers use the username "admin" and the password "admin" or "12345678." If these do not work, consult your printer's manual or refer to HP's documentation for the default login credentials.
-
Configure Network Settings:
- Once you've logged in, you can configure the network settings. Here are some key settings to check:
- Ensure that the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway are correctly configured for your network.
- Check that the printer is set to DHCP if you want it to obtain its IP address automatically from your network's DHCP server. Alternatively, set it to the static IP address you want.
- Once you've logged in, you can configure the network settings. Here are some key settings to check:
-
Set a Password:
- If you want to set a new password for the printer's web interface, look for the password or security settings within the web interface. It's advisable to change the default password for security reasons.
-
Save the Changes:
- After making any necessary adjustments to the network settings, be sure to save the changes.
-
Test the Connection:
- Once the settings are saved, check if the printer is now recognized on your network. You can try printing a test page or checking the printer's status on the network.
If you've tried these steps and are still experiencing issues, make sure the UTP cable and network ports are functioning correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
