Hi @DenGeo,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Looking for the admin password that came with your new HP printer can be tricky, and it's normal to feel a bit stuck when you need it to access advanced settings. Here’s exactly where to find it and how to proceed:

Step 1: Check the Printer Label or Internal Sticker

Most newer HP printers include a unique 8-digit Admin PIN on a sticker, located:

  • Inside the front or cartridge access door
  • On the back panel

This sticker often shows “Admin Password,” “PIN,” or “Default Password.” Use this when logging into the Embedded Web Server or control panel.

Step 2: Use Common Default Credentials

If you can’t find the sticker, try these universal defaults:

Field:                   Try This

Username:         admin

Password:          Leave blank, or use: admin, password, the printer’s serial number, or the unique PIN                                                        on the sticker.

Step 3: Resetting the Admin Password

If none of the defaults work or you’ve changed them earlier, a factory reset will restore default settings, including the PIN:

  • Follow the instructions in your manual for a hard or factory reset (varies by model).
  • After reset, use the default credentials again, likely admin + sticker PIN.

Step 4: Access the Web Interface

To manage settings via your browser:

  1. Print or check your printer’s Network Configuration or Wireless Network Report to find the IP address.
  2. Type the IP into your browser’s address bar.
  3. Log in using Username: admin and Password: sticker PIN or default password.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
