Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Printer display now shows many options locked and says contact the administrator. Tried to Reset Wireless Defaults and it is locked. This is a home printer. Can I get back control of this printer. EWS can not contact printer wirelessly. No IP address is shown, but can not change since admin password is asked and no password was set. Tried uninstall

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, 

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device. 

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer. 

 

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

I replied to the PM as I don't want to list the instructions here. Basically received this message on the display.

 

The feature has been locked by the system administrator or the person who set up the printer. Only button shown on display is the OK button in blue at lower right.

 

Anything else to try. I have also ordered a 10m active printer cable to reach the printer at it's present location and will try to reinstall the software using that cable. PC would not recognize the printer using standard printer cable.

HP Recommended

I unplugged printer for one minute then powered it on. Used instructions in private email and it worked. Have full control of printer now, except for ePrint services. Will solve the problem later.
