Hi @LeoG2,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To find the proxy address for your HP OfficeJet 8600 All-In-One printer, follow these steps.

Access Printer’s Network Configuration Page:

From the Printer’s Control Panel:

  1. On the printer’s control panel, touch the Wireless or Network icon.
  2. Navigate to Network Setup or Network Configuration.
  3. Select Print Network Configuration Page or Print Network Setup Page.

Via the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  1. Make sure your printer is connected to your network.
  2. On your computer, open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar. You can find the IP address on the network configuration page you printed or on the printer’s display screen.
  3. Press Enter to access the printer’s Embedded Web Server.

Locate Proxy Settings:

From the Printer’s Control Panel:

  1. Go to Network Setup or Network Settings.
  2. Look for Proxy Settings or Proxy Server settings.

From the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  1. Click on the Network tab.
  2. Select Proxy Settings or Internet Settings.
  3. Here, you should find the proxy address and port if configured.

If your network does not use a proxy server and you are just setting up your printer on your home network, you may not need to enter a proxy address. Make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer and try setting up the Web Services again without specifying a proxy address.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your input.  Although it is a bit confusing because I am 78 years old and am not an expert on computers or printers, but I am learning little by little through trial and error.

My printer it connected to my home network and honestly speaking, I really don't need the Web activated but my wife wants it activated so I am trying to please her.  I better stay in good standings with her. Ha!

So, I printed out your instructions and try to activate the Web.

Thanks again,

Leonard
