Hi @lazer0007,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet 8610 is not printing and shows “Printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed” with error 0xc19a002. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

1. Power reset the printer

• Turn the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back, and wait 30 seconds.
• Plug it back in and let it restart. This clears temporary printhead-detection errors.

2. Remove and reseat the printhead

• Open the ink-access door and lift the printhead latch.
• Carefully remove the printhead, then place it back in firmly until it clicks.
• Make sure the latch closes completely—an unlocked latch triggers this exact error.

3. Check the electrical contacts

• Remove all ink cartridges and inspect the copper contacts on the printhead.
• Gently wipe the contacts using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
• Let everything dry, reinstall the cartridges, and close the latch securely.

4. Inspect the carriage and latch area

• Ensure no pieces of packaging, paper scraps, or dried ink are blocking the carriage movement.
• Verify that the carriage can slide freely left and right.

5. Clean the printhead from the printer menu

• On the control panel, go to Setup → Printer Maintenance → Clean Printhead (if accessible).
• A cleaning cycle helps the printer re-initialize the printhead connection.

6. Try a different USB port or cable (USB issue you mentioned)

• Disconnect the USB cable and reconnect it to another USB port on your PC.
• Try a known-working USB cable to rule out connection faults.

7. Reset printer settings

• Go to Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Printer Defaults.
• This clears configuration issues that may affect printhead communication.

I hope this helps.
