I have an ink error but the cartridges are new. i am not able to update the firmware. hp tells me that my serial number status is not applicable for the printer update. hpsmart says that the printer is not connected to the internet but it does not allow me to add it.

Ink Error with New Cartridges:

  • Even though you have new cartridges, sometimes ink errors can persist due to various reasons such as cartridge compatibility issues, improper installation, or printer hardware problems.
  • Make sure the cartridges are installed correctly and that they are compatible with your printer model.
  • Try removing the cartridges, cleaning the contacts gently with a soft cloth, and reinserting them firmly.
  • If the issue persists, try using different cartridges to see if the problem lies with the cartridges themselves.

Firmware Update Issue:

  • If HP is stating that your printer's serial number status is not applicable for the update, it could be due to various reasons such as your printer model not being eligible for certain updates or a technical issue on their end.
  • Ensure you're following the correct procedure for updating the firmware as per HP's instructions. Sometimes, updating firmware requires specific steps or prerequisites.

Printer Not Connecting to the Internet:

  • If your printer is not connecting to the internet, it could be due to network configuration issues or compatibility problems.
  • Check your printer's network settings to ensure it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network and that the network settings are correctly configured.
  • Make sure your Wi-Fi network is functioning properly and that other devices can connect to it.
