HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Envy 5660 printer stopped printing. Error message is Printer cannot connect to web services.  Further investigation messages that Security certificate is not trusted by computer operating system.  I have made no changes to the system.

I have connected my computer and printer to two different WIFI networks to troubleshoot.  Same error with both networks.

Hi @zureick,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Restart Printer and Router:

  • Turn off your printer, unplug the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Turn off your router and wait for a similar amount of time before turning it on again.
  • Plug in and restart your printer.

Update Printer Firmware:

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

Check Date and Time Settings:

  • Incorrect date and time settings can cause certificate errors.
  • On the printer’s control panel, go to "Settings" > "Preferences" > "Date and Time" and ensure the date and time settings are correct.

Re-enable Web Services:

  • Disable and re-enable Web Services on your printer.
  • On the printer’s control panel, go to "Settings" > "Web Services Settings" > "Remove Web Services".
  • After removing, enable Web Services again and follow the on-screen instructions to set it up.

Network Troubleshooting:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to a network with internet access.
  • On the printer’s control panel, go to "Network Settings" and run the wireless network test report to check for connectivity issues.

Manual Certificate Update:

  • Some printers allow manual updates of security certificates.
  • Check the printer’s control panel or the Embedded Web Server (EWS) for certificate management options. Access the EWS by entering the printer’s IP address in a web browser.

Change DNS Settings:

  • Changing the DNS settings on your printer can sometimes resolve certificate issues.
  • Go to "Network Settings" on your printer, then "Wireless Setup".
  • Enter the DNS addresses manually (e.g., use Google's DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).

Factory Reset:

Refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

I hope this helps.
