I understand your HP LaserJet M234de Wi-Fi not turning on and the Information (i) light blinking. Let’s go through a few checks.
Reset the Wireless Settings
- Turn the printer on.
- Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel (X) button together.
- Hold both buttons for about 5 seconds.
- Release the buttons when the wireless light begins blinking quickly.
- Wait about 1 minute for the printer to enter wireless setup mode.
Note: A rapidly blinking wireless light indicates the printer is ready to reconnect to Wi-Fi.
Restart the Printer and Router
- Turn the printer off.
- Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the router power cord.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the router back in first, then reconnect and power on the printer.
Note: Restarting both devices refreshes the wireless connection before setup.
Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi
- Open the HP app on your computer or mobile device.
- Select Add Printer or Set up a new printer.
- Choose the HP LaserJet M234de from the list of available devices.
- Select your Wi-Fi network when prompted.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password and complete the setup.
Print a Network Configuration Page
- Press and hold the Information (i) button for about 5 seconds.
- Wait for the printer to print a Network Configuration page.
- Review the page for the Wireless Status section.
- Check whether the Wi-Fi radio is enabled.
- Confirm the printer shows a valid IP address.
Note: If the report shows the wireless radio disabled or no IP address, the printer is not currently connected to a network.
Check Wi-Fi Band Compatibility
- Confirm your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- If your router uses both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, temporarily connect your device to 2.4 GHz.
- Start the printer setup again through the HP app.
- Select the 2.4 GHz network when prompted.
- Complete the wireless setup process.
I hope this helps.

I reset the printer just like in your instructions, but it still will not connect. I must have been doing this for the last two days, and before with YouTube videos also. When trying to set up the printer with the HP Smart Print App, it just searches and searches, but it never does find the printer, and for that mater it does not find any printer at all, as if something is broken or disabled on the printer. I have set the location settings to make sure the printer can be found, with no luck at all, and even the main router is new.
The front LED bar under the HP printer logo is a white/pink color and solid.
The wireless network status report says Wireless not connected, but the Wireless signal is on, and the wireless signal bars on the printer are on, showing a strong Wi-Fi signal.
Bluetooth is on
Wi-Fi Direct setup status says disabled
The information button on the printer flashes

Hi @GlennMc77,
Thank you for getting back and letting me know that you still have trouble even after trying all the steps.
1.) Are the printer and PC/ Phone connected to the same network?
2.) Is your router dual-band enabled, i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz? If yes, make sure the dual band has different SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G networks.
3.) What is the distance between the router and the printer? The recommended distance for a stable connection is 9-12ft.
4.) Is there a WPS push button on the router?
Take care and have an amazing day!
