HP OfficeJet 6962 All in One Printer will not connect to Acer desktop computer?

To resolve connectivity issues between your HP OfficeJet 6962 All-in-One Printer and Acer desktop computer, follow these steps:

Check Basic Connections

  1. Verify Power and Cables: Ensure the printer is powered on and all cables are properly connected. If connecting via USB, check that the cable is securely attached to both the printer and the computer.
  2. Network Connection (Wireless): Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your desktop computer. If there is a mistake in SSID or a connection issue, reconfigure the wireless settings.

Wi-Fi Connection Setup

Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS):

  • Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for at least 3 seconds until the wireless light starts blinking.
  • Press the WPS button on your wireless router. The printer will establish a connection within two minutes.

Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • Access the printer's control panel, press the Wireless button, and choose "Settings".
  • Select the "Wireless Setup Wizard" and follow the on-screen instructions to enter your network credentials.

Software Installation

  1. Install Printer Software: Ensure that the HP printer software specific to the OfficeJet 6962 has been installed on your Acer desktop.
  2. Use HP Printer Setup and Installation Suite: If already installed, run the printer setup & software program found under HP in your list of Programs (All Programs for Windows 7 and earlier). Choose 'Connect a new printer' and follow the prompts.

Additional Troubleshooting

  • Restart Devices: Try restarting both the printer and the desktop computer to reset network connections.
  • Firewall and Antivirus: Check if settings in your firewall or antivirus software are blocking printer communication.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Refer to HP's website for firmware updates.
