Hi @jt2610,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP printer shows as offline. These HP steps can help bring it back online:

  • Check the connection method: HP Print and Scan Doctor supports USB, wireless, and wired printer connections and can detect the printer through those methods.

  • Check printer status in Windows:

    • Open Start > Devices > Printers and Scanners

    • If the printer is Offline, right-click it and select Use Printer Online

    • If the printer is paused, right-click it and select Resume Printing

  • Clear pending print jobs: HP notes that pending jobs in the print queue can prevent printing. The tool can verify the queue and clear stuck jobs.

  • Restart devices: For network printers, restart the router first, then the printer. If needed, also restart the computer.

  • Check firewall/software interference: HP says firewall software can block communication between the computer and printer. Temporarily disabling it can help confirm whether it is the cause.

  • Verify wireless setup:

    • Make sure Wi‑Fi is turned on on the printer

    • Ensure no Ethernet cable is connected, because on some HP printers, that disables wireless

    • Run the Wireless Network Test from the printer’s network/Wi‑Fi settings if available

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
