Hi @wstoops,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy Inspire 7955e printer is still having issues connecting to your Xfinity WiFi even after exchanging it for a new one, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check Network Settings
Restart Devices:
- Restart your printer, router, and computer to refresh the network connection.
Check WiFi Network:
- Ensure your WiFi network is functioning correctly and other devices can connect without issues.
Distance and Interference:
- Make sure the printer is within range of the WiFi router and not obstructed by walls or other electronic devices that might cause interference.
WiFi Band:
- Confirm that your printer supports the WiFi band your router is using (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz). Some printers only support 2.4 GHz.
Printer Settings
WiFi Setup on Printer:
- Use the printer’s control panel to access the WiFi setup wizard and connect to your network.
- Make sure to enter the correct WiFi password.
Network Reset:
- Reset the printer’s network settings to default and try setting up the WiFi connection again.

Router Settings
Check Router Security Settings:
- Ensure your router’s security settings (e.g., WPA2) are compatible with the printer.
- Temporarily disable the router’s firewall to see if it’s causing the issue.
Change Channel:
- Try changing the WiFi channel on your router to reduce interference.
Firmware Updates:
- Ensure both your printer and router have the latest firmware updates installed.
Xfinity Specific Steps
Guest Network:
- If you have a guest network, try connecting the printer to that network.
MAC Filtering:
- Check if MAC address filtering is enabled on your router. If so, add your printer’s MAC address to the allowed list.
Parental Controls:
- Verify if any parental control settings might be restricting the printer’s access.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
