Hi @mystere900

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for explaining the situation clearly. If your HP DeskJet 2540 is showing offline and not appearing in the Bluetooth list, it’s likely due to a network or driver communication issue—especially since this model connects via Wi-Fi Direct or USB, not Bluetooth.

Let’s walk through a clean reconnection process to bring it back online.

1. Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode on the printer

This allows the printer to broadcast its setup signal again:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds.
  • Release when the Wireless light starts blinking—this confirms Wi-Fi Setup Mode is active.

2. Reconnect using the HP App

  • Open the HP App on your Windows PC or mobile device.
  • Tap Add Printer or Set Up a New Printer.
  • Select your HP DeskJet 2540 when it appears.
  • Follow the prompts to connect it to your Wi-Fi network and enter the correct password.

If the printer doesn’t appear, temporarily connect your PC or phone to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network (e.g., HP-Setup-2540-xxxx) from your Wi-Fi settings, then return to the HP App.

3. Remove and re-add the printer in Windows

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP DeskJet 2540 > Remove device.
  • Click Add a printer > The printer I want isn’t listed.
  • Choose Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
  • Enter the printer’s IP address (you can find this on the Wireless Network Test Report).
  • Complete the wizard and select the HP DeskJet 2540 series driver.

4. Disable “Use Printer Offline”

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer > See what’s printing.
  • Click Printer in the top menu and ensure “Use Printer Offline” is unchecked.

5. Print a Wireless Network Test Report

  • Press the Wireless and Information buttons together to print the report.
  • Confirm the printer is connected to the correct network and note the IP address.

Let’s get your DeskJet 2540 back in action.
