Microsoft Windows 11

New network and router.  Printer network blue light blinking.  Went to Wizard setup, wireless on, network wireless direct on, chose new wireless network, but won't accept my router WPA/WEP ... shows all letters as lower case and router shows all CAPS .. Is that the problem?  So, how do I get printer wireless?

Hi @WindyB,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble connecting your HP OfficeJet 4635 printer to your new wireless network due to a case sensitivity issue with the Wi-Fi password. Here are some steps to help you connect your printer wirelessly.

Steps to Connect Your HP OfficeJet 4635 to Wi-Fi

Check the Wi-Fi Password:

  • Ensure that you are using the correct Wi-Fi password (WPA/WEP) for your router. Remember that passwords are case-sensitive, so if your router password is in uppercase letters, you must enter it in the same case.

Reset the Network Settings on the Printer:

  • Press the Home button on the printer's control panel.
  • Navigate to Setup (wrench icon) > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults.
  • Confirm the reset.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi:

  • Press the Home button again.
  • Navigate to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your new wireless network from the list of available networks.
  • When prompted, carefully enter the Wi-Fi password exactly as it is (matching the case).

Use the HP Smart App:

  • If you continue to have issues, consider using the HP Smart app available for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. The app can simplify the wireless setup process:
    • Download and install the HP Smart app from the respective app store.
    • Open the app and select Add Printer.
    • Follow the prompts to connect your printer to the new network.

Check for Updates:

  • After successfully connecting, ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date:
    • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.

Test the Connection:

  • Print a Wireless Test Report to confirm the connection:
    • Go to Setup > Reports > Network Configuration.

Note:

  • Check the Router Settings: Make sure that your router is not set to hide the SSID (network name), and that there are no MAC address filtering settings preventing the printer from connecting.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting your router and printer can resolve connectivity issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
