Hi @vinces42
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP printer, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 is connected to the HP Smart app but not detected in your HP Instant Ink account, it could be due to a few different reasons. Here are the steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Registration
- Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.
- Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer.
- In the HP Smart app, go to Printer Settings.
- Look for an option like Register Printer or Manage Instant Ink and make sure your printer is correctly linked to your HP Instant Ink account.
2. Verify Printer is Connected to the Internet
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Settings and confirm it is connected to the internet.
- You may also want to print a network configuration page (found under Setup > Network Settings on the printer’s menu) to verify network status.
3. Sign in to the Correct HP Account
- Sign in to your HP Instant Ink account on the website at instantink.hpconnected.com.
- Verify that your printer is listed in your account under Manage Printers.
4. Link the Printer to Instant Ink Account
- Go to the HP Instant Ink website (instantink.hpconnected.com).
- Sign in with the same HP account used in the HP Smart app.
- In your account settings, select Add Printer.
- Follow the prompts to link your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 to your Instant Ink plan.
5. Check for Firmware Updates, click here
- On the printer, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Firmware Update.
- Alternatively, you can check and update the firmware via the HP Smart app.
6. Check Instant Ink Compatibility
- Visit the HP Instant Ink website and search for your printer model to confirm it's supported for Instant Ink.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
