Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer (right out of the box) - Deskjet 2855e  says connect to a wi-fi network. I don't want this. Just strait to the tower.

My last printer had the same instructions. I had to pay someone to set it up. That one went into the dumpster today. Some one help me before this one goes back to walmart

Page 12 of the users manual states:

HP+ printers will not work as expected if you set up using a USB connection. To use all the available
printer features, complete setup using HP Smart and an Internet connection. After setup, you can connect using
a USB cable, if needed.

My guess is you need an on-line ink account to be able to use the printer.  Just return it and inform Walmart their sales people need to be familiar with the product and explain how it works.  If you ordered it online be sure to write a review explaining the problem.  It is likely the printer is an excellent product but you cannot use it as USB only.  Your review will save other buyers from the same problem.

Consider turning unwanted printers into goodwill or some other charitable organization.
