Hi @dAVEpIAS
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
If you're having trouble adding your HP ENVY Photo 6255 All-in-One Printer to your laptop, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Ensure Printer is Ready
- Power On: Make sure the printer is turned on and in a ready state.
- Connected to Wi-Fi: If you're connecting wirelessly, ensure the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
2. Use HP Smart App
- Download HP Smart: If you haven't already, download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store or HP's website.
- Add Printer:
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Click on Add Printer or the plus sign (+) and follow the prompts to find and add your printer.
3. Add Printer via Windows Settings
- Open Settings: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Add a Printer or Scanner: Click on Add a printer or scanner. Wait for your printer to appear in the list.
- Select Your Printer: Once it shows up, click on it and select Add device.
4. Check Network Connection
- Ensure that your laptop and the printer are on the same Wi-Fi network. If they are on different networks, the printer won't be discoverable.
5. Update Drivers
- Check for Updates: Go to the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer.
6. Troubleshoot Connectivity
- If the printer still isn't found:
- Restart both your laptop and the printer.
- Check your firewall settings to ensure they aren't blocking the printer connection.
7. Manual IP Address Addition
If the above steps don't work, you can add the printer manually using its IP address:
- Find the printer's IP address by printing a network configuration page from the printer’s settings.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click on Add a printer or scanner.
- Click on The printer that I want isn't listed.
- Select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname, enter the printer's IP address, and follow the prompts.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
-Regards
