Hi @456me,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you want to change the IP address on your HP 5101 printer. Let’s go through a few steps to set or change it correctly.

Print the Network Configuration page
On the printer control panel, press and hold the Cancel (X) button for 5 seconds (or use Information > Print Reports, depending on the model).
This shows the current IP address and network status.

Access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)
On a computer connected to the same network, open a web browser.
Type the printer’s current IP address into the address bar and press Enter.

Open Network or Networking settings
In the EWS page, go to Network or Networking.
Select IPv4 Configuration or TCP/IP Settings.

Change from Automatic to Manual
Set IP Configuration Method to Manual or Static.
This allows you to enter a custom IP address.

Enter the new IP address details
Enter the desired IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway.
Make sure the IP address is within your router’s range and not already in use.

Save the settings and restart the printer
Click Apply or Save, then restart the printer.
This ensures the new IP address is retained.

Update the printer on your computer
Remove and re-add the printer using the new IP address if printing stops.
This prevents connection issues caused by the old IP being stored.

I hope this helps.
