Hi @names-Craig

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've lost the password for your printer and resetting to factory settings didn't help, here are some steps you can try to regain access:

1. Default Passwords

  • Check the printer's manual or the HPwebsite for the default password. Common default passwords for many HP printers include:
    • 12345678
    • admin
    • 00000000

2. Recheck Network Settings

  • After a factory reset, the printer may have returned to its default network settings. Make sure you're connecting to the correct network and using the default credentials.

3. Use the Printer's Control Panel

  • If your printer has a touchscreen or control panel, navigate to the network settings. Some printers allow you to view or reset the password directly from the menu.

4. HP Smart App

  • If you have the HP Smart app installed on your device, you can use it to connect to your printer. The app often helps with connecting to Wi-Fi without needing the password.

5. Check Router Settings

  • If the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network, you might be able to view connected devices on your router's admin page. This can sometimes provide clues about your printer’s settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
