This is an older printer -- it does support Wireless, Ethernet Wired, and USB cable connections.
Printer Specifications for the HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One Printer Series
The printer does not support 5GHz.
Your (new) router must be configured to broadcast the support the 2.4GHz frequency (in addition to the 5GHz frequency).

If your router supports it,
Create a separate SSID named network for each frequency (5GHz and 2.4GHz).
Connect the printer to the SSID network on the frequency / band you want it to use.
In general,
- 2.4GHz is less fussy about obstacles and supports a longer distance between router and device (printer)
- 5GHz is faster
