My printer does not make connections to the new router provided by the xfinity.

The new router is able to make connections to all the other devices at home except this HP printer.

@kailong, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printer Connection Issues with a New Router!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To resolve the issue of your HP printer not connecting to the new Xfinity router, follow these steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the problem:

Check Printer and Router Compatibility:

  • Verify that your printer is compatible with the 2.4GHz network band, which is commonly supported by HP printers.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it for about 30 seconds. Then, restart your Xfinity router.
  • Once the router is fully operational, turn your printer back on.

Reconnect the Printer to the Network:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to the network settings or wireless setup wizard.
  • Select your network name (SSID) and enter the Wi-Fi password.

Check the Network Configuration:

  • Ensure that the new router's SSID (network name) and password are correctly entered in the printer settings.
  • Check your router settings and make sure MAC address filtering is not enabled, or if it is, add your printer’s MAC address to the allowed list.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your HP printer through the official HP support website or the printer's integrated update feature.

Use the HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart app to your smartphone or computer. Use it to help diagnose and resolve any connectivity issues.

Reset the Printer's Network Settings:

  • Consider resetting the network settings on the printer and try connecting it again to your Xfinity router.

Check Firewall or Security Software:

  • Some security software on your network might be blocking printer connections. Temporarily disable it to check if that resolves the issue.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
